Glen Coe : Winter Skills

Whacking up some rocky steps and frozen mud

On the summit

Into the clag
I was out today with a team of two on an intro skills course today at Meall Bhuide. They where a father and son team who where using a Christmas present voucher from the Mum after the son had a rather long slide on the Buchaille last year.
We looked at all the various skills focused on the three main areas which seem to cause the accidents and incident in the winter mountains, slip or a slide, avalanche and navigation. We did this winding our way around the hill and up on to the summit.
It was a warm and wet day although there is plenty of snow around at the moment it was thawing. The snow was generally very soft right through to the summit. On the summit it was raining and fairly windy although the skiers where out in force which actually looked pretty good.
Today I was working for Hebridean Pursuits.
