Winter Mountaineering : Ben Nevis

Marissa enjoying sun and snow on Ben Nevis

Gulch, Tower Ridge and the Orion Face

Moving around with crampons on rock

Ben Nevis

I was out with Marissa today who is up for a the Easter weekend looking to learn and get out in the winter mountains. Today we headed up onto the Ben to look at some intro skills, sliding and crampon work. Walking in from the bottom car park we met Mark Chadwick at the top car park which having known that it was now clear I may have headed to the top. It looks like its clear but only so long as you go through the gate at the North Face car park rather than Aonach Mor.
Very nice day with plenty of snow and sun, we headed into the gulch area before moving round to the sunnier aspects of Coire Leis and behind the hut.
Lots of people out on all the popular routes conditions are excellent for the Easter weekend. The ski areas also look to be in top shape so if you have not packed your bags and set off yet then get on with it !
