Sunday : Sun and snow looking down Glen Coe

Monday : Oh no, Ben Nevis in high winds and rain
Happy to head for the warmth !

I have been out with Andy Spink and a team from Tiree High School on two days winter skills on the west coast. Certainly a marked change in the weather over the two days. On Saturday we headed out to Meall Bhuide in Glen Coe to practice various winter skills on the way to the summit of the Munro. It was great day with sunshine and snow giving perfect conditions. The skiing especially on the flypaper area looked very good.
I stayed with Andy in the Lagangarbh hut. Having walked past it many times but never been inside it was good to check it out and its a very nice hut to stay in. In the morning though I awoke to high winds and rain rattling the roof tiles which indicated an unpleasant day ahead.
We headed for the Ben but turned around just short of the hut. Terrible weather with high winds and heavy rain. The rivers and burns where well up. All the snow which fell in the last couple of days will have fast stripped away. Leaving Glen Coe the snow level had vanished back up into the clag.
